Every moment of every day humans everywhere consume water. Some drink, others bathe, while others cook or swim using Earth's most precious resource, WATER. Each of us presumes that the water we consume is safe and free from toxins, viruses, bacteria, or other harmful impurities. You are probably one of the billions of humans who takes for granted the safety of the water that you consume.
Do you, however, ever think about the source of water that you consume or do you simply consume it without concern? Do you ever determine if the source is safe? Do you have the water you consume from your private wells chemically analyzed for common e.coli or other common impurities that may be prevalent because of damaging pesticides and herbicides or fertilized generated contaminants? Do you ever question the municipality that supplies your water to determine what they do to assure the continuous safety of the water that is supplied.
Like most of us your answer would be that I never question that supplier or source to make certain that they safe water is always supplied. You probably never ask to view the data ,if it exists, that proves that the water you consume is safe. Like the majority of us you simply assume that it is. Like the majority, you are allowing yourself to potentially inflict harm to yourself and your loved ones because you are either trusting your supplier and sources or you simply don't consciously consider the subject. Or you simply do not care.
Well, if you are living in the USA and have been paying any attention to the reality of lead poisoning of thousands of trusting individuals who believed that the water they consumed was safe who learned instead that toxic lead was present in Flint, Michigan's municipal water supply. Even if they had been concerned and asked the municipal water department about the peculiar color and taste, the municipal authorities and state departments responsible lied and misled the approximately 100,000 residents of Flint and consequently caused developmental defects in thousands of children who will be permanently brain damaged and retarded.
Some of the so-called humans who were responsible for their deliberate acts that caused the irrevocable and deadly harm have recently been indicted for felonies that are tantamount to slow murderous acts of inhumanity. Apparently more indictments are coming. These indictments will do nothing to restore the stolen lives of infants and young children who are most susceptible to lead poisoning, nor will they help adults whose live will be likely shortened because of lead poisoning. The damage has been done and more than one hundred thousand Flint, Michigan residents are forever paying the price in sickness, premature deaths, and permanent developmental retardation.
If you have been following the Flint horror story and understand how and why it occurred, you should now become proactive to determine the safety of the water that you consume. Have you done anything? Or are you still indifferent and assume that all is well in your well or municipal water source? Consider what has happened in Flint Michigan and do not assume that itzeepsap@gmail.com is an isolated case. It is not! Drinking Water Contamination in West Virginia --Another Tick of the Time Bomb
A state of emergency has been issued by the Governor of West Virginia advising more than 300,000 people in nine counties NOT TO DRINK OR COOK OR BATHE USING THEIR TAP WATER! President Obama has declared a state of emergency and national guard troops are bringing bottled water to serve the absolute necessity for drinkable water. This situation occurred because a storage tank and concrete containment enclosure leaked and unknown about of a chemical substance called 4-Methylcyclohexane Methanol, or MCHM that is produced by a chemical company near Charleston. Material Data Safety Sheets for this chemical reveals its likely toxic and carcinogenic properties, that have not been confirmed by National Institute of Health evaluations. This neglect is common and blatant since fewer than 300 toxic / carcinogenic chemicals have been identified since the "chemical age" began about 85 years ago. Periodically, National Institute of Health reports are issued describing verified carcinogens and their biological effects. Such scant coverage is a disgrace and surly must be apparent to those responsible for issuing the NIH report.
Man made synthetic chemicals production began with the large scale production and application of carcinogenic PCB's (1930) and we (all earth) now produce more than 30,000 different potentially toxic and carcinogenic man made synthetic chemicals that pose deadly threats to all humankind. The US EPA publishes an annual report called the Toxic Inventory Report that discloses the fact that more than 4 billion tons of toxic substances (mostly synthetic chemicals) are released annually into the USA environment where they most certainly contaminate drinking water sources, air, land and foods with potentially deadly cocktails of man made synthetic carcinogens and toxins. WE the people of the USA and rest of the industrial world that also release toxins and carcinogens both accidentally and deliberately blithely ignore reality wondering why cancer strikes nearly 13 million people annually (and nearly 8 million die) and about 150,000 deformed infants are born including about 25,000 who are still born in the USA alone. Seldom if ever do individuals give a thought to the consequences of our toxic man made environment until a sudden notable event occurs as it has in West Virginia. Momentarily we awaken and soon thereafter when the headlines change we forget about the insidious problems caused by man made synthetic chemicals that surround and poison us slowly. Exposure to cocktails of carcinogens and toxins that are present and accumulate gradually in our bodies cause cancer and other diseases.
Storage tanks leak gasoline, oil, and myriad man made chemical substances that are stored and distributed below and above ground virtually. Storage containers brake and fail as can pipelines suddenly releasing toxins and carcinogens into the environment. Deliberate and permitted releases of toxic /carcinogenic chemicals are everywhere and everyone is exposed and we gradually accumulates dangerous and potentially deadly man made chemical substances in our bodies. Mothers bearing babies transmit toxins to the fetuses yet to be born. Everyone, everywhere is exposed to potentially disease-causing man made chemicals. The vast majority of these toxic/carcinogenic chemical substances are products of technology that were developed since 1930, most during the last 50 years that I describe as the peak of the "Chemical Age". Chemical industries constitute the largest market segment in the world, and new synthetic chemicals are developed continuously, generally without definitive pre-marketing testing to determine long term safety. The human race is the test bed and only if a synthetic chemical eventually is proven to cause cancers or other serious diseases is production banned.
This can take many decades of use before action is taken to restrict use or production. Nearly 50 years elapsed before PCB ( a carcinogenic and toxic synthetic chemical) was banned. Meanwhile, millions of people were exposed and sustained diseases and cancers often fatal. Another example pertains to over one million people at the marine training base Camp Lejune were exposed to ground water contamination cause by disposal of deadly man made organic chemicals over a period of about 50 years before action was taken to stop its use and admit responsibility, and compensate family members who became ill and died. These types of incidents that kill and sicken occur regularly, and without identification of the cause of disease or death, other than the usual statement "natural causes". Neglect and dereliction saturates the annals pertaining to truthful disclosure of factual evidence concerning carcinogenic chemicals until the story cannot be withheld any longer. West Virginia came to the surface quickly because people drinking water notices the peculiar taste and odor and because so many people were suddenly affected. Such is not typically the case. Taste and odor signs are generally not present and people continue to consume toxins and carcinogens without awareness.
Wherever you live your tap water contains trace amounts of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that cannot be totally removed from tap water without major investment in new technology to treat municipal water supplies and stand alone wells using ground water in communities or individual homes and businesses. Many trillions of dollars would be needed over at least a decade to accomplish this. Simultaneously elimination of toxic / carcinogenic synthetic chemicals from further production and use is also needed or the problem will worsen more rapidly than it can be remedied. This requires "people action" and shaking up politicians, both of which demands comprehension and action by the majority of the public and politicians who are responsive and understand the critical issue. The Environmental Working Group, a non profit environmental group, is a good source of independent information, albeit constrained because of a very limited budget, regarding toxic or carcinogenic chemicals that are commonly found in commercial products, foods, and water. Follow the EWG, and obtain additional information to use your knowledge to combat this insidious health issue.
Whether you live in a rural communities served by wells or in metropolitan areas you are exposed to toxic and carcinogenic cocktails consisting of mixtures of trace amounts of man made chemical substances that endanger your health and that of your loved ones, and those yet to be born. What is taking place in West Virginia today is an example of what is happening below the news headlines every day, every where. You are simply unaware and generally unsuspecting. Water quality standards issued by the EPA lack scope, typically specifying fewer than 120 chemical substance as if they were present alone. Not only is the number of chemical substances unrealistically small but the standards do not even address the "cocktail effect" of multiple chemical substance in combination with one another. Synergistic damage is known to take place under certain conditions if cocktails of trace amounts of harmful chemicals are tested on animals, obviously not including humans.
Reality should awaken us and the rest of humankind to take action and prevent man made toxins and carcinogens from contaminating our planet and all life into the future. Substantial damage has already occurred and may not be totally reversible. Nonetheless action must be taken to prevent more biological damage. West Virginia is another tick of the brewing time bomb.

One Test is Worth a Thousand Expert Opinions---Is Your Drinking Water Safe?
We have all heard the relatively new word "fracking", but few understand what it is or why it threatens the safety of the water you drink and cook with, among numerous other daily activities. Safe water, i.e. water that can be consumed without danger of bio-accumulation of toxins and carcinogens in you body, is critical to sustaining your life.Our man-altered environment is laden with unnatural chemicals many of which are harmful and can be deadly. Many of these man-made chemical substances are commonly used for yard and home maintenance and industrial purposes. Regulation of the use of harmful chemicals is lax and often lacking altogether. Water quality reports issued annually by municipal water operators are only required to monitor and report on about 110 of more than 10,000 man made dangerous chemicals that are present in air, land, and water in our nation. The development and use of man made toxic chemical has increased exponentially following the invention of PCB's about 1929. The National Institute of Health and Environmental Protection Agency issue annual reports that list many but not all toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that are detected. The cost of comprehensive testing for all unnatural toxic chemical substances would require budgeting many trillions of dollars annually, and consequently are ignored or outright opposed federal, state, and local government. Removal by advanced treatment technology is feasible but very expensive. Therefore lacking effective regulations, detection standards, and special interest opposition to any regulations or testing everyone in our nation who consumes municipally treated or private well water are at risk of being or becoming contaminated with dangerous and potentially life-threatening man made chemical substances.
This risk is now greater than ever before because of the introduction of fracking technology used to recover natural gas and oil from deep-underground reserves found in certain types of geological shale. Natural gas (methane), and oil have been discovered locked in interstitial voids in certain types of shale and has ignited a literal gold rush to recover these valuable source of fossil fuel energy. Advanced drilling technology allows deep wells to be vertically and horizontally arranged to enable the release and capture of fossil fuels that were previously unrecoverable. Met many uses industrially, commercially, and for the ordinary consumer and this new recovery process has stimulated vast recovery efforts wherever adequate supplies and potential prices justify the recovery costs. That seems to be the case wherever shale gas or oil is found and now throughout our nation methane and oil mining is beginning to boom using "fracking" technology. The practice is spreading worldwide.
The word "fracking" is an acronym for cracking/fracturing that along with drilling both vertical and horizontal shafts.These shafts are subsequently concrete lined for viaducts to introduce pressurized blends of water, quartz sand, and organic chemicals (referred to as fracking slurries or fluids) into the compact shale/gas formations. These fracking slurries that are pumped into the concrete viaducts under pressure generate new cracks in the shale that extend vertically to allow methane gas to escape to the earth's surface where it is accessible for storage, distribution, purification and use. Fracking slurries contain harmful organic chemicals that greatly reduce the pressure needed to induce vertical cracks in the shale to release the interstitial methane or oil. The fracking process becames economically viable as a result.
Conceptually the fracking process seems innocuous and harmless, but the opposite is true when the actual complex earth structures are taken into account. As holes are drilled to establish the viaducts for slurries, they invariably intersect and expose underground aquifers that are sources for drinking water used throughout our nation. Approximately 80% of all drinking water in the USA is derived from aquifers, and it is often recycled after first use for secondary or tertiary non-potable applications such as irrigation for certain agricultural uses and industrial processes. Eventually almost all toxic and carcinogenic chemicals return to the water cycle as contaminated rain, soil, and surface water and to underground aquifers. Certain toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that do not decompose nor are removable using present water treatment technology are consequently retreated and reused as if harmless when in fact they are harmful. Water used in fracking slurries will contain toxic chemicals that are recycled and reused after municipal treatment that will not remove dangerous organic chemicals. This is the case for fracking chemicals that are constituents constituents in the essential crack-inducing slurries.
The chemical formulation of fracking slurries are not revealed by corporations using fracking processes and are considered proprietary trade secret information. The only certain way to determine their "secret" is to conduct tests before and after fracking operations, and to do so impartially and comprehensively. Many so-called expert opinions have been given by self-interested parties but so far no information has been disclosed to the public by any of these paid talking experts. Lacking tangible data, the public is told by corporations using fracking and their political parasites water water quality is not endangered. Where is the proof? Nowhere in sight, because tests and results, if accomplished, have not been revealed. There have been, however numerous anecdotal reports that tap water in private homes nearby fracking operations is foul tasting that sometimes ignites with a match. Very limited testing has revealed the presence of benzene (a known human carcinogen) and 2 Butoxyethanol (suspected human carcinogen) in well water in close proximity to fracking operations.
During my professional career as a Research Director, VP, and research engineer I routinely adhered to what I consider the irrefutable research parable: "One Test is Worth a Thousand Expert Opinions". The so-called corporate experts and their political money bags claim that their is nothing to be concerned about fracking slurries. I take this to mean "beware". We all must demand comprehensive testing before widespread fracking is allowed. The human disaster that could result if we ignore this need would be cataclysmic as the water we drink becomes more toxic and carcinogenic.. Speak out and demand action now. The Toxins and Cancer-Causing Man-Made Chemicals in Your Drinking Water
Today some snippets of new appeared in various parts of the USA concerning the ongoing work of the Environmental Working Group. This research and advocacy organization is dedicated to educating the American public about the poisons in our drinking water, and the scope of the problem that even affects new born children.
One piece of news relates to Madison Wisconsin's municipal water system. Excessive concentrations of hexavalent chromium, a known carcinogen is present in all public water provided in Madison. EWG reports that this is very common in all cities in the USA.
If this type of problem was a rarity we might be able to locally respond with appropriate corrective action. It is not a rarity. Toxic and carcinogenic water is consumed by virtually millions of us , probably a majority of all Americans daily, as we drink and cook with tap water wherever we live and travel. The reason is that we are now living during the 9th decade of the massive poisoning of all water supplies with man-made chemicals. Virtually all of these man-made chemicals were developed, manufactured, and released into our water sources, often deliberately and almost always without public awareness or consent. This toxification of Earth's water has effected all regions of the world where over 100,000 different man-made toxic and carcinogenic chemicals have been produced and used in monumental quantities for industrial, military, commercial, and public purposes since the 1930's, when PCB's were first manufactured and used in massive quantities. This long lasting toxin, PCB, is found in most water systems also, and will persist indefinitely unless new water purification systems are implemented throughout our country. A pure pipe dream in our country.
Meanwhile we all are exposed daily to carcinogens and toxins with every sip of water and bite of food, and often airborne sources that we breathe as well. Is there any wonder that cancer is rampant, even among children and new born as they are recipients of their mothers water-containing toxins during fetal development.
I wrote a book on this subject in 2006, " A Drinker's Guide to Pure Water--Is Your Water Safe" that I hoped would awaken some of us to the magnitude of this problem and help activate some remedial action. Walking, Talking, Reservoirs
Without drinking water we all perish. We become dehydrated and merely skin, bones, and dry organs. We lose about 70% of our body weight as we shrivel and eventually leave only our bones behind to possibly fossilize for some future archeologist, a million years from now, to discover and analyze. Without water we are truly a sack of bones. Yet we seldom give a thought to protecting the water we drink from contamination with toxic substances, and therefore many of us carry more than 100 pounds of potentially toxic water in us as`we meander about. If you weigh 150 pounds, nearly 100 pound of your weight is water. The source of all the water in you body is external. Food, watery fluids, and most vitally water. about 5 quarts of water becomes blood and recirculates continuously and is replenishes as waste fluids are normally eliminated. Much of the water is permanently stores in our cells throughout our body. We are walking, talking, reservoirs of water and will not exist if we dry out.
Despite the vital function of water we seldom think about it. We eat, drink, and take for granted the most vital ingredient of life. We also fail to acknowledge that every pound of weight we gain is about 70% water. The worlds population of about 6.8 billion stores in their approximate average weight bodies (estimated by me as 85 pounds), more than 400 billion pounds of water. As the earth's population increases this number does, so that by 2050 when the population is estimated to reach about 10 billion people, approximately one trillion pounds (454 billion kilograms, or about 161 billion cubic feet)of water will be stored in our collective world population bodies. The fatter we grow the greater will be the total amount.
Upon life termination the water contained within us returns to earth in the form of evaporation or fluid dispersion, that may not be readily available to resupply aquifers, etc. Even if they would resupply water sources would the water be OK to drink, even after treatments that are seldom adequate? How large can the world population grow before potable water becomes depleted, and massive purification methods will be required. At the rate that political leaders recognize and respond to new requirements it will likely be too late, and massive die offs will likely occur.

Mute, Think, Hoot,, and Vote
What do you do when you hear and see the 15 second political blurbs that try to get you to vote for their candidate? My wife and I mute the sound,and hoot. We do not care what the commercials claim. Your vote must be based upon facts and principles that are based upon reality not bull. Here are some suggestions to consider before you cast your vote.

Fifteen second bits of video and radio propaganda that aim to capture your vote are valueless and must be ignored. Vote instead for the underlying principles that you support, and your vote will at least reflect your beliefs, not a TV or radio political advertisement.

Lessons We Can and Must Learn From an Engineered Hole Deep in an Ocean Bottom That Gushes Poisons and Carcinogens
Humans are without doubt the strangest residents on Earth. We are like a swarm of viruses that devour all they infect until the host dies and than the viruses are without a home. Maybe they can find another host to infect before they too die. We humans behave as if we can always find another home if our present one, Earth, is consumed by our own neglect. We seem unable to care until something hits us in our pocket book. The "engineering oil disaster" in the Gulf of Mexico is the latest example of our response to environmental contamination after the genie bites us in the pocket book. Fisherman are losing jobs and income, tourists are staying home as beaches become tar infested and hotels and restaurants stay vacant, amusement events along the shores close, and the hole BP drilled into the ocean floor gushes oil at the rate of 250,000 to possibly 2,500,000 gallons per day into the surrounding seas and shores of the south east USA.
Suddenly politicians who scoffed at environmental pollution and global warming caused by man made contaminants are becoming environmentalists because their constituents are losing their income, jobs, and the environmental enjoyment of clean beaches that they took for granted.Scoffers of global warming now believe that their own backyards must be shielded from environmental harm. They are of course correct. And maybe, just maybe, they will begin to accept the fact that all of Earth is our and their backyard, and the well being of all life on our planet depends upon what is provided by a life-sustaining environment. Perhaps this oil catastrophe will stir the retarded brains of people who claim or think that the Earth's environment is too vast to be harmed by human activities. Human activities generally harm the Earth's vast oceans , air, lands, and near- space atmosphere. Just as the oil gushing out of a giant hole that was drilled into the ocean floor about one mile below the sea surface is now causing toxic contamination of a growing area of land in densely populated parts of our country. We regularly poison our planet's air, fresh water, soils, oceans, and the space our planet occupies and needs to maintain in a way nature intended,without a second thought. Unless of course our source of income is threatened, and then we all become environmentalists. As soon as business resumes we forget the environment and start polluting again. Our memories are short and our interest in the natural environment becomes diverted by the pleasures that technology and engineering offers.
We are now witnessing an environmental disaster that was inevitable. As discussed in a previous blog, engineering as a discipline consists of designing and making things that have a useful life and eventually fail. Everything designed and produced by us has a finite and often unpredictable period of operational use, beyond which some type of failure is absolutely certain. From simple bread toasters to the most technical space ship failure is inevitable if the product is used at all. When failure does occur it can be innocuous or catastrophic. If a toaster develops a shot circuit a home can burn down and kill the occupants. If a space ship hydrogen tank develops a leak and ignites because a simple seal fails all of the astronauts perish in a hydrogen explosion that capture the tears of millions of TV onlookers. When a welded steel gusset used to support the traffic driving across a major bridge breaks, because of accumulated load damage, and the structure collapses killing drives and passengers who happened to be their at the worst possible time it is just the inevitable failure of another engineered product.If a turbine blade in a passenger aircraft engine fails and cause the aircraft to crash and kill all occupants we seem shocked to think how such a thing could happen.
We seem to believe that engineered things are permanent and cannot fail. The bigger they the more permanent they are perceived to be. Often the opposite is the truth. They are not and cannot be permanent. Everything humankind designs and engineers will eventually fail in some manner, and generally unexpectedly. When inevitable failure occurs the consequences may be trivial or disasterous depending upon the engineered thing and its use by humans.
The gigantic hole drilled in the bottom of the ocean in the Gulf of Mexico, about one mile below the surface, continues to spew oil as a result of a component in the towering oil rig. Until the flow is exhausted on its own or somehow plugged, we will probably witness one of the worse "engineered failures" since the industrial revolution began about 200 years ago. It may become the worse failure ever because the consequences are so devastating to all life, plant and animal, human and otherwise. All life poisoned by the organic chemicals contained in the gushing oil will die or become diseased. Death will occurs as plants and sea animals and birds ingest and are coated with the poisons. Fresh water supplies will gradually become contaminated with carcinogenic toxins contained in the crude oil as natural poison and carcinogenic chemicals are released into the environment. The wetlands will become progressively contaminated, and toxic rain water that picks up evaporating toxins from the ocean surface laden with dispersed and wave driven oil will contaminate inland areas as well as the shores. Eventually all life near shores where the oil poisons are washed will become too dangerous to occupy. This scenario is already evident in parts of Louisiana and is also becoming evident elsewhere along the gulf shores as the oil poisons are driven by ocean currents, wind, and poison rain and evaporating vapors.
Perhaps this " inevitable engineered oil disaster" will stimulate our understanding of the fragile nature of our dependence upon the Earth's environment and the sustenance of all life. We cannot continue to ignore or pretend the consequences of our blind acceptance of any technology as if it is always beneficial. Engineering can be and is often beneficial if used appropriately. Risk always prevail, and inevitable failure of all engineered devices and things can and will occur. We must understand the risk and prevent environmental disasters by never allowing the engineering of anything whose failure can threaten our very environment, upon which we all depend. This is everybody's responsibility. Do not allow politicians to tell you what is right or wrong environmentally. Think for yourself and always demand a path toward a cleaner environment where life can flourish and the oceans, lakes, rivers, aquifers, lands, and air can support life.
We must control the spread of technology and engineering for the sake of profit and pleasure and war. We must learn to apply technology and engineering for the benefit not the detriment of life. We all must work to restore our environment to a more natural condition, and prevent stupid and greedy exploitation of the Earth's natural resources for the benefit of the few. We must defend Earth's environment and try to restore it for future generations. If we can learn this from the Gulf engineering oil failure we will see a new day when environmental protection and sustenance becomes the highest human priority! We must, because without a safe and clean environment all life may perish.

Act Now to Protect Yourself from Oil Leak Toxic/Carcinogenic Drinking Water
While President Obama, Senate Committees,Secretary of the Interior Salazar, and Republican Drill Baby Drill advocates continue to point fingers and play the blame game those who live along the Gulf Coast will be drinking toxic, carcinogenic water poisoned by enormous the oil leak. As the oil saturates wet lands along the coast, not only will sea life perish and sicken but so will human lives gradually be poisoned. The wetlands are filters that ordinarily helps purify water that enters ground water aquifers that become drinking water sources. The aquifers that are fed by ground water drainage through coastal wetlands will become more toxic daily as organic chemicals contained in crude oil continually enter the aquifers. The carcinogenic contaminants will inevitably pollute drinking water in Gulf communities that depend upon ground water. Municipal water treatments cannot remove all of the toxins and slowly they will accumulate in humans causing irreparable harm if individual actions are not taken. Everyone using municipal or well water must purify the water they drink and use for cooking, etc. as soon as possible. Consult your local companies that specialize in home water purification systems and get one for your home now. Also purchase a TDS (total dissolved solids) monitor to get a measure of purification effectiveness.

Drinking Water--Here Today, Gone Tomorrow--Unless We Take Action Now
What is shared by all human life and for that matter all life? The only answer is WATER. We humans consume about 5 to 8 gallons a day if it is available. We drink what is available where we live or what we buy bottled (usually in plastic and usually municipal water that may or may not be purified additionally and then shipped from distant locations , stored, and gradually contaminated with harmful chemicals that continue to leach out of the plastic containers into the water that we eventually drink. If we are able to use municipal water for which we pay a regular monthly fee we also drink contaminated water that contain both regulated and unregulated toxins at usually very small concentrations. Each sip of water we take contains a veritable cocktail of micro contaminants that can slowly accumulate in all of our body organs and individually or synergistically kill life sustaining cells or cause cancerous mutations and disease, disability, and death. If you doubt these facts read many sources of information that I have discussed in previous blogs.
You can start with the Water Quality Report that your water utility department issues annually. Don' stop there because it will not contain much really useful information. Follow up with resources from the EPA, National Institute of Health, Environmental Working Group, and many books dating from Rachael Carson's, "Silent Spring" in published in 1962 to my book, "A Drinker's Guide to Pure Water" published in 2006, and other more recent reports available from the Sierra Club and others. After studying these sources you should begin to understand the devil of a problem that you unconsciously ignore as you consume more toxic and carcinogenic chemicals with every drink of water you imbibe or ingest.
The high incidence of cancer raises the obvious:"Why is cancer so prevalent?" Why are medical problems that harm vital organs so common? Why are newborn infants, who have obtained all the life support for 9 months from their mothers body, often born with cancer, various diseases, and physical defects? Read and study the overwhelming evidence that implicates and sometimes pinpoints manmade chemicals as the direct cause. Read independent Medical Reports from Medical Colleges and Institutions, reports from the Center for Disease Control, and National Institute of Health as well as reports from diverse environmental groups involved in protecting the vital fresh water supplies on Earth from more accumulative contamination. Educate yourself. Educate others. Your life may very well depend upon what you and others learn.
We, human beings, often ignore or dismiss factors that determine our physical well being if we cannot experience an immediate cause and effect between that factor and our health or sickness. Our consumption of water and the effects of toxic and carcinogenic chemicals are shrouded in that category of unrecognizable influences that are not detected by our normal sensory means. We ordinarily can't see any micro contaminants in the water we consume. We can't feel or hear them. We generally cannot taste them. We, therefore, are unaware of sensory undetectable things. We also often fail to understand the connection between the contaminated water we all drink and ingest with our foods, and the potential diseases that incubate over varying durations of time in our bodies without any symptoms, often until it is too late to treat or cure. We almost never know what or why the particular disease struck. Why me? Why you? For the same reasons millions of others are harmed by chemicals that were never intended by nature to be in our bodies. These unwanted and harmful chemicals are like ticking time bombs ready to explode without prior notification. They are deadly and the fuse can ignite at any time.
Our ignorance is understandable but not excusable. Become informed and then take action to improve the quality and safety of the water we and everyone needs, and take action to prevent future contamination of our limited fresh water supplies. Myriad diseases and often treatable but incurable cancers are caused by contaminants in the water that all of us consume. Billions of dollars of unnecessary medical costs are incurred annually because of contaminated water that poses as drinkable because our local water municipality says that they adhere to Federal standards. Who can vouch for the adequacy of the very limited Federal standards when barely 100 chemicals are regulated out of the many tens of thousands of man made (as many a thirty thousand or more in active use today) chemicals that contaminate most fresh water sources on Earth.
Water treatment technology in use today is incapable of completely removing any of the many tens of thousands of micro constituents that poison fresh water sources everywhere. Most of the inhabitants of Earth are blindly consuming water that has have been contaminated with deadly manmade chemicals that were concocted and made and used mainly over the last eighty years. The petro-chemical industries, agricultural pesticide and herbicides companies, specialty chemical producers, pharmaceutical manufacturers, power generating industry, electronic and computer industry, and many other types of manufacturers and processing operations continuously discharge and distribute products that are made and used worldwide and that are steadily increasing the concentration of toxins and carcinogens in Earth's fresh water sources and oceans.
Since detoxification processes cannot remove the thousands of contaminants that currently are in Earth's water, the rate at which ongoing contamination is occurring makes the problem greater and more dangerous day by day. We are poisoning ourselves and the Earth with toxins and carcinogens that have already had deadly consequences, and the situation worsens and will do so until our planet becomes unable to support life as we know it. To prevent this eventually calamity the production and use of deadly man made chemicals must be substantially curtailed and cease in the relatively near term.
This critical problem is currently ignored by most of the world's leaders and populace, while instead being preoccupied with political and economic issues that are meaningless by comparison. The industrialized countries of the world are responsible for almost all (excluding natural substance that are toxic) poisons and carcinogens that contaminate water. The economically poorer countries of the world, that often already suffer from water shortages and natural contamination, are further harmed by the economically advantaged countries that produce or control production (wherever it occurs) of virtually all man made toxic chemicals that are commonly used for seemingly mundane purposes without our awareness of their deadly potential. While headline grabbing issues divert our attention from major environmental issues that confront our planet,including the well debated issue of climate change that ignorant leaders and others often dismiss as inconsequential or not factual, we engage in endless political rhetoric, war making, and relatively insignificant issues, while life determinant issues are often ignored by leaders and by the majority of people who are supposedly educated, and often entirely ignored by those who are not educated. Many of us are not informed and/or do not want to be informed about vital issues that will determine the viability of life on our planet. We are too easily distracted by inconsequential matters and and entertainment that saturates the media while ignoring really vital issues that require thought and study.
Each of us has the responsibility to protect the fresh water sources that we all depend upon. Get informed about the reality of how we are making our planet's water deadly and the threat to all life that is inevitable if action is not taken soon. Force the political and government leaders to give vital environmental issues the highest priority. Think beyond your locality and state boarders and beyond national boundaries. Think globally about the Earth's future. Humans are the only ones who can take that necessary action to protect all life on Earth now and into the future. Do not pass up this once in a lifetime chance to do something for the benefit of all living things including ourselves and future generations who depend upon what we do, or what we do not do, now. To prevent this eventually calamity the production and use of deadly man made chemicals must be substantially curtailed and cease in the relatively near term.
This critical problem is currently ignored by most of the world's leaders and populace, while instead being preoccupied with political and economic issues that are meaningless by comparison. The industrialized countries of the world are responsible for almost all (excluding natural substance that are toxic) poisons and carcinogens that contaminate water. The economically poorer countries of the world, that often already suffer from water shortages and natural contamination, are further harmed by the economically advantaged countries that produce or control production (wherever it occurs) of virtually all man made toxic chemicals that are commonly used for seemingly mundane purposes without our awareness of their deadly potential. While headline grabbing issues divert our attention from major environmental issues that confront our planet,including the well debated issue of climate change that ignorant leaders and others often dismiss as inconsequential or not factual, we engage in endless political rhetoric, war making, and relatively insignificant issues, while life determinant issues are often ignored by leaders and by the majority of people who are supposedly educated, and often entirely ignored by those who are not educated. Many of us are not informed and/or do not want to be informed about vital issues that will determine the viability of life on our planet. We are too easily distracted by inconsequential matters and and entertainment that saturates the media while ignoring really vital issues that require thought and study.
Each of us has the responsibility to protect the fresh water sources that we all depend upon. Get informed about the reality of how we are making our planet's water deadly and the threat to all life that is inevitable if action is not taken soon. Force the political and government leaders to give vital environmental issues the highest priority. Think beyond your locality and state boarders and beyond national boundaries. Think globally about the Earth's future. Humans are the only ones who can take that necessary action to protect all life on Earth now and into the future. Do not pass up this once in a lifetime chance to do something for the benefit of all living things including ourselves and future generations who depend upon what we do, or what we do not do, now. Drinking water is here today and will be gone tomorrow unless we take action now.

What's Not Seen Can Cause Death---Invisible Toxins in Water
We are conditioned to believe that all we need do is look, hear, and speak to determine reality. This is largely bunk. We hear endless charades of word from so-called experts about everything from what to not eat to who to vote foe and why. We are fed endless propaganda by purveyors who want us to buy whatever they sell as we are assured that their product are superior to every other similar product. We are often told by government agencies that they have the peoples interest at heart and whatever needs fixing will be fixed. We often swallow this continuous line of assurances as if it is the true gospel.
Swallow it indeed. Every drop of water we swallow contains contaminants that can cause illness and even death that we swallow nonetheless because we assume that what we can't see cant hurt us. Virtually all the water; well sources, municipal water system sources, lakes, reservoirs, rivers and oceans world wide have become contaminated during the last 100 years from man made chemicals that never were found in nature. Many of these thousands of chemical substances cause cancer, and incurable diseases that lead to premature death including infants. Infants absorb toxic chemical that are in their mothers blood during the period of gestation.

Household water from municipal water plants is chlorinated to eliminate bacterium but the purification processes do not remove most toxic man made chemicals. Politics and Water Don't Mix but You Can Stir Them Up
Our country is bubbling over whether or not to make health care available to all citizens regardless of income and ability to pay. From my viewpoint this issue should not be an issue and instead reality. All of our citizens, like citizens of all other advanced countries who already have universal health care, are inherently entitled to health care when it is needed. As important however is the avoidance and prevention of needless and avoidable diseases. The health care systems are designed to help you recover after acquiring disease, but very ineffectual in preventing diseases. Our country spends about 2-3 billion dollars annually treating diseases, many of which could be prevented if our country and our politicians had the will to do so.
Unfortunately politics and water don't mix, and consequently our people will continue to suffer from avoidable and deadly diseases that are caused by toxic and carcinogenic man made chemical substance that are in drinking water that we all consume and depend upon. All water on Earth has been toxified by our collective ignorance of reality and the ongoing production and widespread use of toxic and carcinogenic substances that are the direct output of the most profitable and ubiquitous worldwide petrochemical industry, and our nearly indiscriminate utilization of substances that poison the very ground we walk on and the water we drink. We blithely ignore the consequences until some noteworthy event exposes a local problem and as soon as it is out of the news we forget and fail to connect the isolated bit of news to the big picture. We seem to assume that we will all be protected by the brotherly arms of local, state, and federal agencies that have the responsibility to assure safe drinking water. Sorry folks, if you believe that then you are just as likely to believe that the tooth fairy will put a gold doubloon under your pillow.
In the same way that the health insurance industry in the USA has hoodwinked many of us into believing that they really aspire to provide affordable health care, the petrochemical multinational corporations have successfully induced us to believe that all the chemical substances they produce and are contained in millions of consumer products are as safe as pure spring water. We have become so gullible that we unconsciously acquiesce and fall into a dream-like trance that enables us to believe the advertisements and propaganda that the chemical industry and their purveyors promote. Since water and politics don't mix our elected officials are very happy to accept bountiful campaign donations from the petrochemical corporations that resist all regulatory action to limit their activities and potentially reduce corporate profits.
For those of you who are skeptical of my remarks please avail yourselves of the opportunity to start to become informed about the most important aspect of health preservation: safe drinking water free of toxins and carcinogens. First, visit your local water department or sanitation office and request all the information that they have regarding water quality. If you don't understand some of the material ask questions until you are satisfied that you understand the material. Than I suggest that you obtain two government publications that are available on line or by regular mail from the Environmental Protection Agency and National Institute of health, respectively. The first is the EPA Toxic Release Inventory Report that contains partial information about toxic and carcinogenic chemical releases caused during production of these substance and is reported annually. Every member of Congress is issued a copy of this report that lists approximately 750 man made chemical substance of the over 3,000 commonly used in every day consumer products. Read it and ask the EPA questions until you are satisfied that you understand the implications and content sufficiently. The second government report is the NIH Report on Carcinogens that also is published annually and submitted to every Congressional member. This report lists about 275 of the thousands of carcinogenic substance found in human beings who have consumed contaminated water and describes the potential cancerous outcomes of exposure. You may not understand some of the medical and chemical terms in these two publications, nonetheless you will certainly begin to get the picture of how these chemicals found in some drinking water threaten our health and how avoidance could help prevent diseases rather than try to cure or remiss them after we get sick.
The purpose of this blog is to engage you in matters that are vital to prevent diseases and disabilities that are caused by man made toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that are in our drinking water at different locations in our country. Future blogs will engage you in more dialogue to promote greater public awareness and stimulate action aimed at political action instead of silence. We must stir up the apparently oblivious majority of Congress and force them to drink the water that they ignore. Perhaps then we will begin to foster preventive health programs starting with the elimination of toxic and carcinogenic chemical production and use.

Water,Water,Everywhere But Not a Drop to Drink
This notice from the EPA was just released regarding remediation of leaking fuel tanks in Indiana. The leakage contaminates ground water that is the source of drinking and household use. The toxins in fuel are often carcinogenic and very dangerous. Here is the notice:

(Chicago, Ill - July 16, 2009) In an effort to protect people where they live, work, and play, EPA announced the distribution of more than $4 million to Indiana under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 to assess and clean up underground storage tank petroleum leaks. The greatest potential hazard from a leaking underground storage tank is that the petroleum or other hazardous substances seep into the soil and contaminate groundwater, the source of drinking water for nearly one-third of all Americans.
"We're providing immediate growth opportunities for communities across the nation, as well as long-term protection from dangerous pollution in the land and water," said EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson. "EPA is putting people to work by serving our core mission of protecting human health and the environment."
This money is part of $197 million appropriated under the Recovery Act to address shovel-ready sites nationwide contaminated by petroleum from leaking underground storage tanks. The funds will be used for overseeing assessment and cleanup of leaks from underground storage tanks or directly paying for assessment and cleanup of leaks from federally regulated tanks where the responsible party is unknown, unwilling or unable to finance, or the cleanup is an emergency response.
EPA regional underground storage tank programs will enter into a cooperative agreement with Indiana Department of Environmental Management in July 2009. The cooperative agreement will include more detailed descriptions of state spending plans.
"The Recovery Act support for underground storage tank cleanup is a great investment in environmental protection and will provide long-term economic benefits for Indiana," said Bharat Mathur acting regional administrator in Chicago.
President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 on February 17, 2009, and has directed that the Recovery Act be implemented with unprecedented transparency and accountability. Those of you who live in Door County near Fish Creek and Ephraim should be very happy to hear that a new 12,000 gallon gasoline tank for leaded aircraft gas is in the process of being installed underground at the Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport off HWY 42 and Maple Grove Road.It will replace an 1,100 gallon above ground mobile fuel tank. Once installed this tank will be preparing to leak sometime in the future. This double walled tank is supposedly leak proof. As an engineer and materials scientist this is impossible. All tanks made by man will eventually leak as corrosion, vibration, freeze-thaw cycles and other factors enlarge small inherent defects into small leaks that gradually become larger. This leaded fuel tank will contain enough leaded gasoline to contaminate all water supplies in the Town of Gibraltar (including Fish Creek) and Village of Ephraim when it leaks and contaminates ground water and aquifers, despite the political assurances that you may get to the contrary.
The shore residences will find toxic gasoline chemicals in the bay, as fish and other wild life suffer and die. The EPA and WI Department of Natural Resources had better have an emergency plan in place along with the WI DOT (who authorized and funded the tank with our tax dollars. The fuel in the tank will be dispersed by individual pilots who need to gas up. Spillage will be uncontrolled but supposedly retained by by appropriate barriers. Of course the concrete barriers will also leak and gradually the uncontrolled and unmonitored spillage will contaminate the ground water also. Get your reverse osmosis water purification systems now if you haven't got one yet.
This is another example of "earmark" giveaway of tax dollars to a special interest group who in this case own private aircraft that occasionally fly in and out of Northern Door County, and serves about 35 aircraft owners who hanger their aircraft at the airport. This and thousands of other boutique airports like it are given grants by the Federal and State governments from our collective tax dollars for their own use. The Ephraim-Gibraltar Airport has received well over one million dollars over the past 5 years and is slated to receive about the same for the next 3 years unless the budget axe falls as it should.

Senator Feingold Listening Session
Yesterday Wisconsin's Senator Russ Feingold convened one of his regular listening sessions to receive input from Wisconsin residents. The Session was held at Sevastopol's new Town Hall in Door County, Wisconsin. Over 100 people attended and everyone who wanted to voice their opinion or ask a question was called upon by Senator Feingold to do so. Those of you who have participated in one of these sessions have experienced a unique aspect of how Senator Feingold represents all residents of Wisconsin and does so in an open serious way. This is an example of how Democracy should work and engage all citizens. Ask your Senators in your state to replicate Senator Feingold's method of reaching every state citizen. If you are a Wisconsin resident make it a point to attend a Sen. Feingold session in your county. He holds a session in every Wisconsin county annually.
Health care was the main subject brought up by the participants and Sen. Feingold responded by strongly supporting the need to provide health care for every citizen. He also stated that President Obama needed to hear from every citizen supporting a public option for health insurance coverage. Your inputs during the Congressional August recess will help provide support for a more affordable health care option. Tell your House of Representatives member and Senators that you support an affordable public option for health care coverage. Sen. Feingold reiterated the value and importance of your inputs and how they will influence the eventual legislation.
The topic that I submitted to Sen. Feingold concerned how environmental man made toxins and health issues intersect, and what can be done to minimize diseases caused by these toxins and carcinogenic man made chemicals. Sen. Feingold was very interested and stated that he was starting to examine and legislate similar issues. He promised to send me information concerning his work on this issue. These will be discussed in future blogs.

Dear Senator Feingold,
Thank you for taking your time today to communicate with some of your constituents in Wisconsin. The purpose of my input is to encourage you to lead an effort in Congress to stop the production and dissemination of man made toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that have caused and continue to cause millions of our people to suffer and die from preventable diseases.
The health care debate in Congress is focusing on supplying affordable health care for all. This is commendable. However, coverage alone is a band aid unless we do something to prevent debilitating and deadly diseases caused by environmental man made chemicals.
Thousands of man made toxic substances contaminates water, land, air, and foods as we unwittingly assume that our government is doing everything reasonable to assure a safe environment. We believe that cancer and other diseases that kill even infants are natural occurrences. Many if not most are caused by man made carcinogenic chemicals that have poisoned our bodies and those of child bearing mothers and their babies as well. Most of the toxic and carcinogenic man made chemicals have been developed and dispersed for use during the previous 75 years.

You and your staff are undoubtedly informed by the annual reports that are provided Congress concerning man made toxic and carcinogenic chemical that are continuously released into the environment and the diseases that they can cause. These reports include the “Annual Report on Carcinogens “(known as ROC) now in its 11th edition that is compiled and published by the National Institute of Health. Another report is the Center for Disease Control “National Report on Human Exposure to Environmental Chemicals” published this June.
The Environmental Protection Agency prepares an annual Report, “Toxic Release Inventory Report” (known as TRI) that details the environmental toxins and bio- accumulative carcinogenic substances spewed from industrial and military sources in our nation. This report vastly underestimates the actual chemical contamination since it did not include individual releases of less than 2,500 pounds annually (recently decreased to 500 pounds) and also does not include commercial and home use discharges into our environment. The underestimated more than 4 billion pounds of toxic and carcinogenic man made chemicals into air, land, and water (eventually all these chemicals are carried into and by water) discharged in 2007 is equal to over 1,000 pound of man made toxins and carcinogenic chemicals for every man, women, and child living in our country now, and being carried in their mother’s wombs awaiting birth with contaminated blood.
As you and your staff also undoubtedly are aware our country’s municipal water supplies are under the surveillance of the EPA for purity and quality. Review of the EPA standards will show you that a very small number of chemicals are regulated compared to the many thousands that are actually in use. The ROC report includes over 250 carcinogenic man made chemicals compared to approximately 100 regulated by drinking water standards. The TRI includes over 750 bio-accumulative carcinogenic man made chemicals in the latest report. Why are so many toxic chemicals unregulated that are known to contaminate water, land, air, and foods? This question requires immediate investigation and remedial action.
A further point requiring investigation and action is related to the potential for synergistic harm caused by even trace amounts of toxic substances. The EPA purity standards for drinking water are set as if only one toxic contaminant exists by itself. This Alice in Wonderland approach defies all logic and scientific knowledge about biological organisms and humans. We become a cocktail of carcinogenic substances with every glass of water and our liver and circulatory systems, etc. cannot separate one toxin from another in our bodies. This utterly senseless approach to establishing water quality standards must be replaced with a reality based system that considers all toxic chemicals and their synergistic health dangers.
Your staff would also be well advised to discuss the water purity question with managing directors of Municipal Water and Sewerage Treatment facilities and you will discover that the water purification technology used in the USA today cannot remove the deadly trace chemicals that pass through and that we consume. The technology is obsolete and must be replaced with effective and costlier technology that is being used in several European countries. Furthermore, sewerage treatment processes now in use in the USA cannot remove deadly trace chemicals that end up discharged into lakes, oceans, or landfills and continuously increase the toxic burden carried into domestic water supplies.
Our nation’s municipal water and sewerage treatment plants must be re engineered and built to protect our people from diseases that are burdening our health care system and escalating medical treatment costs as well. A Roosevelt WPA type program is absolutely essential and will save billions if not trillions of dollars in future health care costs while providing millions of productive jobs and eventually eliminate needless diseases, deaths, and suffering caused by toxic water-borne chemicals.
The issues discussed in this letter demand immediate action that surpasses the global warming problem. Both are of great concern but millions of people are contacting cancer and other debilitating diseases this very moment because we have ignored the ongoing contamination of our planet with man made toxic and carcinogenic disease-causing chemicals that we then attempt to ameliorate by medical treatments. Health care was the main subject brought up by the participants and Sen. Feingold responded by strongly supporting the need to provide health care for every citizen. He also stated that President Obama needed to hear from every citizen supporting a public option for health insurance coverage. Your inputs during the Congressional August recess will help provide support for a more affordable health care option. Tell your House of Representatives member and Senators that you support an affordable public option for health care coverage. Sen. Feingold reiterated the value and importance of your inputs and how they will influence the eventual legislation.
The topic that I submitted to Sen. Feingold concerned how environmental man made toxins and health issues intersect, and what can be done to minimize diseases caused by these toxins and carcinogenic man made chemicals. Sen. The purpose of my input is to encourage you to lead an effort in Congress to stop the production and dissemination of man made toxic and carcinogenic chemicals that have caused and continue to cause millions of our people to suffer and die from preventable diseases.
The health care debate in Congress is focusing on supplying affordable health care for all. This is commendable. However, coverage alone is a band aid unless we do something to prevent debilitating and deadly diseases caused by environmental man made chemicals.
Thousands of man made toxic substances contaminates water, land, air, and foods as we unwittingly assume that our government is doing everything reasonable to assure a safe environment. We believe that cancer and other diseases that kill even infants are natural occurrences. Many if not most are caused by man made carcinogenic chemicals that have poisoned our bodies and those of child bearing mothers and their babies as well. Most of the toxic and carcinogenic man made chemicals have been developed and dispersed for use during the previous 75 years.

A Big Step to Clean the Environment--Your Action is Vital
Yesterday the House of Representatives passes the "American Clean Energy and Security Act" that passes the ball to the Senate for future action. President Obama has repeatedly supported the bill for both economic and environmental reasons. . If passed by the Senate, and when signed by President Obama, this bill will begin an era of cleaner air, water, and food that will improved health and reduce medical costs, as added benefits.
In our country alone over 4 billion pounds of toxic chemicals are released annually into the air, water and lands of our country. This is equivalent to over 1,000 pounds per man, woman and child living in our country. These toxic and often carcinogenic chemicals are the byproduct of coal burning power plants, chemical production, various manufacturing practices, and waste disposal. Many of these toxic releases are carcinogenic and they accumulate in the tissues and organs of our bodies causing diseases and deaths. . We unknowingly consume these toxic chemical when we drink water, consume food, and breathe the very air that surrounds us. We cannot entirely escape the damaging by-products of an industialized nation and world, but we can minimize our exposure and work to improve the environment for future generations.
The House passage of the "American Clean Energy and Security Act" is a big step toward clean energy and oil independence, but even more importantly when it becomes law it will start us on a pathway to a cleaner and healthier environment that is less contaminated with toxic man made chemicals. A new era will truly begin.
However for this to occur will require action by all citizens to ensure passage of the bill by the Senate. Everyone who wants a healthier life for themselves and their loved ones must assume some responsibility to achieve this goal and let your Senators hear from you. Passage of this bill is imperative if we care about the future for our nation's children and young ones. They will inherit the toxins that we allow and the environment we permit to be further degraded unless we demand change that will improve our environment. Future generations will look back to our times and commemorate the big step that began with the passage of the "American Clean Energy and Security Act". This will happen if you demand action.
Join an environmental organization such as the Sierra Club, Environmental Working Group, Bioneers or any other of your choice, and become active now. We have the opportunity to improve the quality of life for all. Do it!

But Baby--It's Good for You
The Center for Disease Control released the results of a study that proved that a toxin used in rocket fuels and certain other chemical substances is also found in powdered baby formulas. However, the CDC did not release the names of the formulas to the public. Why? Are they suggesting that it is better not to know? Are the manufacturer's blocking the full report to hide the information? Or are the indicating that "Baby, It's Good For You"? Read the link to the news article and then read about the toxicity of perchlorate, and get real mad about their sealed lips. Our federal Food And Drug Administration has also failed to take action on toxic perchlorate in food and water supplies and seems to brush off the harm by telling the public that it is a naturally occurring substance. It occasionally and not regularly is, but whatever the source there is no justification to allow poisoning. Tell your elected officials to reveal the manufacturers who are responsible for this travesty. Get the truth out and tell all your friends and relatives to speak out against what may be a governmental and corporate white wash. Save the children and do something to assure safe water and foods now! Prevent perchlorate contamination of baby formulas and drinking water.

Something That Kills and is More Important than the Economy
$$$$$$$$$---the economy, the bonuses, the liars and cheats, the waste of tax dollars----this all matters. But, compared to the daily poisoning of your air, water, and land and eventually your bodies these are minor matters. Your health and that of your loved ones are the most important aspect of life, or should be. Therefore, please start informing yourself about the poisons that our government permits to be discharged into our environment daily, year after year without telling you about the consequences. Year after year for more than 75 years, industrial operations and government agencies have discharged toxic, bioaccumulative, carcinogenic chemicals into lakes, rivers, drinking water, air, and land that poisons drinking water and virtually all foods that we consume. These bioaccumulative man made toxins cause incurable diseases including cancer, and infant diseases that are often chronic and fatal. Nonetheless, we seem to be preoccupied with the talking heads of Congress and the greater media most of whom who are either ignorant of or choose to ignore these life and death issues.

The economy will recover. New jobs will soon be created, and banks will start lending. However, when economic recovery occurs we will still be poisoning ourselves and our children as usual. Merely publishing the Toxic Release Inventory annually and doing nothing about the continual toxic discharges must end. If our Congress paid attention to the TRI they would have at least acknowledged the health problems that result. I doubt that you or anyone you know has heard anything about this reality. Our Congress and EPA seems to be more engrossed in the temporal issues and the use of band aids rather than real solutions to lasting problems. If we allow this kind of attitude to persist the ultimate cost will exceed the national budget as the overburdened medical system attempts to cure diseases that should never have occurred but for the bioaccumulative carcinogenic toxins that we ingest.
The National Institute of Health also issues an annual report " Report on Carcinogens" (RoC). The eleventh issue of this annual report to Congress was released recently and this link will allow you to become informed. I recommend that you inform yourself about the contents of this document that supposedly is read by our Congressional members or staffs as should the TRI. I suspect that both reports are filed or trash canned by most of our elected officials in Washington, D.C. and elsewhere and not read or referred to. The RoC describes the cancer-causing properties of over 250 common bioaccumulative toxins that are released into our environment by industry and governments. This report can be used as a cross reference with the TRI to connect some of the cancer-causing agents that are responsible for millions of cancers and deaths annually. Our elected officials seem to ignore these facts as do most of us.

The Lost Environmental Issues
We have barely heard a word from either John McCain or Barack Obama about the serious global environmental issues confronting us. Yet these issues dangle precariously about us springing unanticipated environmental threats continuously. Water, air, and land pollution endangers the whole globe. We allow the indiscriminate poisoning of drinking water from man made industrial sources, and breathe toxic air laden with industrial emissions that are barely, if at all, regulated. We permit carcinogenic substances to remain for years and decades after indifferent corporations poisoned the earth, atmosphere, surface water and ground water we depend upon. Such realities are as vital to our well being and health as any economic issue, and yet they are seldom given any press or political importance. This is a major omission, and must change.
The two principal presidential candidates offer significantly different approaches to environmental sustainability and improvement. I suggest that you examine their positions and past actions to determine for yourself who represents your environmental interests more closely. Two Alter Net voter guides, one on water issues , and the other on general environmental issues, are useful to gain some pertinent information the respective views and actions of Obama and McCain on these issues. Both guides are constructed from a progressive viewpoint in terms of issues, but are very factual.

Man-Made Environmental Toxins and Your Vote

After you read this link consider the following blog that hopefully will inspire some of you to vote for real environmental change that will protect our lives and future generations from man-made disease-causing toxins.
Those of you living in Northeast Wisconsin where PCB and related man-made toxins contaminate the lakes and rivers should be particularly interested in this blog. Unfortunately, similar issues prevail wherever we live .
Why does the EPA and state department of natural resources continue to advocate actions that disregards the huge and growing body of evidence that proves that many chronic and often debilitating and fatal diseases are caused by very minute concentrations of man-made toxins that accumulate over many years in our bodies. These toxic substances are also absorbed and adsorbed in foods that we consume and are transferred to body organs where they gradually accumulate. The gradual accumulation eventually eventually causes cellular abnormalities that often leads to incurable chronic and often fatal diseases. Federal reports including, the NIH Report on Carcinogens and the EPA Toxic Release Inventory verifies the validity of these statements. Read them and don't take my word alone. You may wonder why these reports are published and largely ignored by our elected government officials.
The corporate manufacturers and polluters of toxic and carcinogenic substances have poisoned and continue to poison our drinking water, air, and land while the EPA, DNR, state and federal governments refuse or neglect to take definitive actions to REMOVE toxins from contaminated river beds, lakes, and contaminated land. and vigorously restrict the future manufacture and use of these bio-accumulative toxins that new born infants are exposed to from the moment they are conceived and develop within their mother's womb. When will we the people DEMAND action from our elected government officials to stop this blatant neglect of country that they are responsible for protecting? When will the people count more than the corporate poisoners and the moneybag lobbyists who feather the pockets of government official with campaign dollars so that their profit interest are protected and secured?
We hear much about "Homeland Security" nowadays, but when have you heard mention of protection against the man-made toxins that poison us without a single terrorist involved, unless you implicate our own government and the corporate poisoners that they apparently shelter? How many millions of us have been poisoned by our own government's neglect as they continue to minimize environmental protection from man-made bio-accumulative, disease-causing substances? This blatant neglect and "conscious/unconscious" protection of corporate profit-making interests must not be allowed to continue. Your vote in the forthcoming elections can make a significant impact on future environmental protection of our environment if you demand changes and vote accordingly.
We must vote for individuals who are committed to protecting the common people of our country. The time to act is upon us. Vote to protect yourself and future generations from the corporate/government neglect that allows man-made poisons and carcinogens to contaminate the environment and cause otherwise preventable disease and death. We must not stand idly by and allow the entrenched political and corporate interest to control our well-being and destiny. Become informed, involved, and proactive and stand up for real environmental protection.
The Preamble of our Constitution commits the people of the United States to "promote the general welfare". When our government sanctions the poisoning of the environment and our people how can it be following the people's constitution? The elected politicians must be reminded that : " We the people of The United States, in order to form a more perfect union,establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity , do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." [Sept. 17, 1787] . VOTE TO REMIND THEM.
After you read this link consider the following blog that hopefully will inspire some of you to vote for real environmental change that will protect our lives and future generations from man-made disease-causing toxins.
Those of you living in Northeast Wisconsin where PCB and related man-made toxins contaminate the lakes and rivers should be particularly interested in this blog. Unfortunately, similar issues prevail wherever we live .
Why does the EPA and state department of natural resources continue to advocate actions that disregards the huge and growing body of evidence that proves that many chronic and often debilitating and fatal diseases are caused by very minute concentrations of man-made toxins that accumulate over many years in our bodies. These toxic substances are also absorbed and adsorbed in foods that we consume and are transferred to body organs where they gradually accumulate. The gradual accumulation eventually eventually causes cellular abnormalities that often leads to incurable chronic and often fatal diseases. Federal reports including, the NIH Report on Carcinogens and the EPA Toxic Release Inventory verifies the validity of these statements. Read them and don't take my word alone. You may wonder why these reports are published and largely ignored by our elected government officials.
The corporate manufacturers and polluters of toxic and carcinogenic substances have poisoned and continue to poison our drinking water, air, and land while the EPA, DNR, state and federal governments refuse or neglect to take definitive actions to REMOVE toxins from contaminated river beds, lakes, and contaminated land. and vigorously restrict the future manufacture and use of these bio-accumulative toxins that new born infants are exposed to from the moment they are conceived and develop within their mother's womb. When will we the people DEMAND action from our elected government officials to stop this blatant neglect of country that they are responsible for protecting? When will the people count more than the corporate poisoners and the moneybag lobbyists who feather the pockets of government official with campaign dollars so that their profit interest are protected and secured?
We hear much about "Homeland Security" nowadays, but when have you heard mention of protection against the man-made toxins that poison us without a single terrorist involved, unless you implicate our own government and the corporate poisoners that they apparently shelter? How many millions of us have been poisoned by our own government's neglect as they continue to minimize environmental protection from man-made bio-accumulative, disease-causing substances? This blatant neglect and "conscious/unconscious" protection of corporate profit-making interests must not be allowed to continue. Your vote in the forthcoming elections can make a significant impact on future environmental protection of our environment if you demand changes and vote accordingly.
We must vote for individuals who are committed to protecting the common people of our country. The time to act is upon us. Vote to protect yourself and future generations from the corporate/government neglect that allows man-made poisons and carcinogens to contaminate the environment and cause otherwise preventable disease and death. We must not stand idly by and allow the entrenched political and corporate interest to control our well-being and destiny. Become informed, involved, and proactive and stand up for real environmental protection.
The Preamble of our Constitution commits the people of the United States to "promote the general welfare". When our government sanctions the poisoning of the environment and our people how can it be following the people's constitution? The elected politicians must be reminded that : " We the people of The United States, in order to form a more perfect union,establish justice, insure domestic tranquillity, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity , do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America." [Sept. 17, 1787] . VOTE TO REMIND THEM.
Let us vote to restore their memory as they take their oath to uphold our Constitution.
